Oerol Festival

Oerol on Terschelling is one of the largest location theater festivals in Europe.
Started in 1982 as a small street theater festival, it has grown into a diverse cultural festival with some 55,000 visitors each year. It still features street theater, but the emphasis has shifted to site-specific theater, music and visual arts.
The theater performances on the beach, in the dunes, in the woods, on a dike or in a barn, are often made especially for or adapted to these locations. Besides Dutch theater and music groups, international theater companies and bands can also be seen.
