Location

De Laape is a former farmhouse in Warten, close to Leeuwarden. De Laape was once a proud dairy farm. Later, the focus shifted to sheep and chickens. The current buildings stand in the contours of the old chicken barns. Both buildings have part meeting room in a greenhouse and part sleeping quarters. In total, the Laape offers 18 comfortable single bedrooms. Only equipped with private bathroom.

Sustainable

The whole complex is built on maximum use of sustainable facilities. For instance, the buildings are heated with heat pumps and cooking is also electric. A thick layer of vegetation keeps the bedrooms warm in winter and cool in summer. Energy is generated with solar panels and rainwater is used to flush the toilets.

Outside things to do

The spacious outdoor area has many facilities for interaction with each other and nature. Next to the spacious car park is a large field for activities. A fire pit can be used in good weather for extending meals and good conversation by the campfire. A footpath around the site leads past reed beds and vistas. The decking around the buildings provides seating areas for meals, drinks or conversation. Several structures have been erected on the site to provide nesting/shelter/feeding habitat for bees, insects, amphibians and birds. The orchard provides a wealth of cherries, apples and pears.
